Happy New Year 2018!
I hope that this year is full of prosperity and good health for all of you and your families. As we begin this New Year, I want to thank you for all your support and participation in your children’s academic lives during 2017. Our LSC and the other parent committees (PAC, BAC, etc.) will continue being an important part of our school. In the coming weeks we will start planning our LSC elections for the Local School Council that will represent you from 2018 to 2020. I encourage you to participate and run as a parent or community representative. The elections will be held on April18th and the applications to be a candidate are being distributed in the school office now and until the end of March. I want to invite you to our upcoming parent meetings and to participate in the school events that will take place in January:
January 10th- BAC Meeting at 8:30 a.m. Topic: Immigration
January 12th – LSC Meeting at 9:00 a.m.
PAC Meeting at 10:.00 a.m. -Mexican Consulate Services
Progress reports will be going home on January 8th. Please make sure your children work on the areas where they receive low grades (C, D or F) on their progress reports. Students will have about five weeks to improve those grades before the report cards go home on February 9, 2018. Talk to the teachers and check the Parent Portal online at https://parent.cps.k12.il.us/pc/default.aspx periodically to make sure your children are progressing satisfactorily. Remind your children that every assignment, every day of attendance, and every minute in their classrooms is important. We want all our students to be successful this year.
Thank you and best wishes for the New Year!
